Reiki Therapies
Although Reiki has been used primarily for humans, it has qualities that make it an ideal complementary therapy for animals. Firstly it is gentle, painless, non-invasive and stress-free for the animal. Reiki heals at all levels of an animal's being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It brings no harm to any living thing to produce its healing properties. It addresses those issues most in need of healing, even those unknown to the practitioner.
You can benefit by learning Reiki and treating animals.
The ability to heal with Reiki energy can be easily acquired by anyone with an interest in healing animals and deepening her relationship with their animals. For people who live with animal companions, Reiki is a wonderful gift to offer them. Reiki is also a valuable skill for people who work with animals in their professional life.
Whilst there are other healing methods available for animals, it can be argued that the potential of Reiki for healing animals has not yet been fully explored and hence it is deserving of a trial by each of us.
Our animal companions bring so much to our lives. Their joy of living is an example to us. Their unconditional love is a model for how we should strive to live our own lives. By offering them the healing that Reiki can offer we give something back to them for all that they have given to us. My own pet dog receives Reiki on a regular basis.

He is a naughty boy, look at him on the arm of the chair watching television, he loves to watch it especially when there are animals on hee hee. He knows he isn’t allowed on furniture but boys will be boys!
Animals, including wild animals, intuitively recognise and appreciate Reiki's ability to heal. They often quickly learn to seek it out on their own. Animals often respond more quickly to Reiki Healing than people do and positive results are usually seen in a relatively short period of time.
Which animals can benefit from Animal Reiki Healing?
Healthy, ill and dying animals can all benefit from Reiki Treatment.
For healthy animals, Reiki Treatments help to maintain the state of health, enhancing peace and overall well-being.
For animals that are ill, Animal Reiki assists healing at the deepest levels and is a safe complement to conventional medicine, Reiki also helps to reduce the side effects of other treatments.
For dying animals Reiki is a highly effective yet gentle way to provide comfort, pain relief, alleviate anxiety and fear and to ease the transition from this life. Reiki Healing can also provide support and help with grief for the animal's owner.
My dog loves Reiki whenever I am giving a treatment to his human friends he is never very far away. Makes him very relaxed & If he manages to sneak in undetected or is given permission to stay, will often fall asleep under the treatment couch or curl up in his bed.
Here he is on his bean bag… Think he is watching telly again. Ears are up so must be some animal making a noise. Lol maybe was fast asleep and noise disturbed him.
Animals respond well to Reiki. Just as in humans, Reiki can be used for all types of illnesses, injuries and emotional problems.
Animals can tell immediately that you are a healer. If they are in need of healing energy they will place that part of their body right on to your hand. They love it!
Pets open easily to the nurturing feeling of Reiki energy when you place your hands upon them. They also know when you send them energy telepathically, via second-degree Reiki
The healing takes place on all levels, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki is both powerful and gentle and can be used as an aid in treating any type of illness.
We are all, animal and human, alive because this Universal Life Force flows through us. Reiki works with this Life Force to help with the natural healing process within all living things.
Reiki brings many benefits including having a calming effect on the body, clears energy blockages and increases overall energy restores balance to the body. Supports physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing supports the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Since Reiki can also be sent effectively from a distance, this means it can be used on animals that are skittish or aggressive without distressing them or risking injury to them, their keepers, or the Healer.
Reiki is also ideal for animals which are about to or have undergone surgery.
Reiki can be used alone or as a complimentary therapy along with traditional western and veterinary medicine.
Reiki heals at all levels of an animal's being and does not cause stress discomfort or pain.
Reiki is an effective form of complementary animal healing and using it alongside veterinary treatments can accelerate the healing process, ease pain, and improve, or help to continue, the animal's quality of life.
Free distance healing for your pet
Distance Reiki
After a distant treatment, results can usually be seen in the next 24-48 hours. Although some conditions may require regular treatments to complete the healing process, dramatic shifts in healing often occur almost immediately.
Distant Reiki is also helpful in healing family situations that may involve your animal and in helping human companions with the process of an animal's death. A distant treatment can also be sent to heal a traumatic event in your animal's past.
Distant Healing is very effective and can be preferable to hands-on treatments in some instances.
Some animals may live too far away for hands-on treatments. Others may be extremely small, fearful of strangers, old and fragile, or close to death and may be better able to relax and absorb Reiki distantly. For people with very busy schedules, alternating distant Reiki treatments and in-person treatments are a great way to be able to give your animal the benefits of Reiki.

Reiki is not a substitute for regular veterinary or medical care.
The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis.
However the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this.
To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3 (taken from the UK Reiki Federation Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice - March 2002)
